The solution to increase the lifespan of your joists
The BITUDECK® tape is a waterproofing tape, composed of a thick layer of bitumen and covered with a matt, opaque black HDPE (High Density Polyethylene) film.
The BITUDECK® bitumen strip is sold in rolls of 10 linear metres. It covers approximately 4m2 of terrace.
Its width of 75mm makes it possible to cover joists of all widths. It can be applied between +5°C and +35°C, on non-frozen joists. Handling is easier under hot conditions, which makes the adhesive more flexible.
This strip can considerably extend the life of your wooden joists, provided that they are well ventilated and protected from water stagnation.

A waterproof protective strip
Wooden deck joists are subject to water run-off on their upper side, so they must be protected. Over the years, areas of stagnant water can become brittle and develop fungi or areas of rot. The Bitudeck strip provides effective protection for the upper face of the joists and makes them watertight, thus prolonging their lifespan.
It effectively protects the wooden joists from rain run-off. This ensures that the terrace is watertight and therefore durable.
The Bitudeck® waterproofing strip with its bitumen-based composition prevents any infiltration on the surface of the joists. The tips of the terrace screws twist with bitumen as they penetrate the joists, thus providing a much more effective sealing point than a simple standard EPDM strip.

Resistance over time
Its composition based on elastomeric bituminous material and resins provides several intrinsic advantages guaranteeing the best possible life span for the structure. This asphalt strip is resistant to tearing, deformation, temperature variations (-20°C to +50°C), weathering, UV, corrosion and rising damp. To reduce sound impact
The Bitudeck® tape reduces sound resonance. Footwear impacts are more pronounced on wood than on stone or concrete. Installing Bitudeck® tape reduces noise by 50% between the structure and the boards.
A self-adhesive strip
BITUDECK® strip is applied cold, preferably at a temperature above 10°C (easier to lay). The underside is to be removed, this is the self-adhesive part.
The self-adhesive side allows the strip to be positioned on the joist without the joist moving. It is only under the effect of heat that the Butyl (mastic) will melt and really adhere to the joists for a very long time.
Une installation simple et rapide
La bande BITUDECK® va agir comme une barrière étanche en s'entortillant autour de la vis lors de la fixation des lames. Cela va protéger les lambourdes des infiltrations dans les fentes et trous de vis. Ainsi, ces trous et fentes étant les points les plus sensibles de la structure sont durablement protégés.
