Wood for generations

In 1891, Felix Clercx set up a sawmill near Helmond in the Netherlands. The activity developed in the second half of the 20th century thanks to the import of exotic wood, from first, Africa, then Indonesia. In the 1990s, the Felixwood brand became the symbol of a global concept of high-quality outdoor furnishing.

Today, we specialise in sustainable wood because we are convinced that the pleasure and authenticity of wood must be guaranteed for several generations.

The management of forest resources is becoming a considerable challenge for all our future. In 2019, we joined the Forestia group, a specialist in composite wood, that shares the same values as us, in terms of management and ecology.

Robust

A long-lasting wood

Our hardwoods are naturally rot-proof. They stand the test of time without any treatment. Ipe, Mukulungu, Merbau, Bangkirai, Kapur or Robinia, are all species known to resist attacks from insects and lignivorous fungi. Compared to autoclave-treated softwoods, their hardness and resistance to weathering is much greater. They also age more slowly over time, and their harder, more resistant fibres develop fewer cracks and splinters than softwoods.

Your FelixWood outdoor projects will keep their aesthetics for longer.

A natural & authentic material

Wood is a living material that changes over time. Originally a reddish-brown colour, it will lighten and then take on a greyish patina with silvery shades. The material expands according to seasons and humidity. Its irregular surface appearance, its peculiarities such as cracks, small adhering knots, are proof of its living status. Wood grain sometimes changes its orientation (cross grain) which causes veins of different colours to appear since it modifies reflected sunlight.

No two boards are the same. This is what is appreciated first and foremost with this unique and exceptional material.

Soft to the touch, wood is also a material not very sensitive to heat. With its good insulating properties when dry, walking barefoot on a wooden deck is a real pleasure.

100% legal wood

Wood is undoubtedly the most environmentally friendly material. Life cycle studies show that wood requires very little energy and therefore very little CO2 emission during transformation into terrace boards or cladding, and above all it stores carbon when used for construction.

However, good forest management and replanting that respects the soil, the social fabric and the diversity of species is essential. Felixwood is therefore strongly committed to developing commercialisation of FSC® C207032  certified wood, the only guarantee of excellent forest management.

100% of our offer is legal, in accordance with the European Union Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade Regulation (EU FLEGT).

Our range fully complies with the European Timber Regulation, EUTR. Many of our products are FSC® or PEFC/30-31-1062 certified, you can recognize this by the mention in the article and the relevant logo.
